Celebrating 75 Years of Independence



Dance festivals across the world are celebrating 75 years of the Indian Independence. Here's a look at a few of them


Renowned Delhi-based cultural organisation Kathak Kendra has announced that it will partake in the national celebrations of the 75 years of independent India, under the Government of India’s ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, with a unique Kathak tribute. Featuring the stars of the Indian classical dance fraternity on one stage, this Independence Day special will entail a 15-day live event titled ‘Vande Maataram’. A cultural extravaganza of diverse expressions in Kathak, viewers can watch it live on Sangeet Natak Akademi and Kathak Kendra’s Facebook Page and YouTube channels. It will take place at the Swami Vivekananda Sabhagar, Kathak Kendra, Delhi.


IIM Bangalore has announced several special programs and activities to mark ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ – 75 years of Independence.At 6.30 pm on 14th August, IIMB will host Desh Raag -- a classical music concert by IIMB alumna and vocalist Manasi Prasad who is the Director of the Indian Music Experience Museum, and her group, at the IIMB auditorium. The concert features eminent musicians in a Carnatic-Hindustani jugalbandi, including Prakash Sontakke (Hindustani slide guitar), Dr. Jyotsna Srikanth (violin), Anoor Vinod Shyam (mridangam) and Adarsh Shenoy (tabla).


The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi is organising a three-day art festival to mark India’s 75th Independence Day. Azadi Arts Festival, the three-day arts event, which begins on Saturday, August 13, celebrates Indian art and artists in a unique way through Artscrafts, the one-stop destination for art lovers for everything related to art.


Indo-American Arts Council celebrates the 75th anniversary of Indian independence with two slates of live performance. Program A (August 6) features Sanjib Bhattacharya and Lagannath Lairenjam, Kavya Ganesh, and Bhavana Reddy; Program B (August 7) features Jin Won, Ailey II and Mythili Prakash. The event is paired with a free streaming program, the Erasing Borders Dance Festival (August 8), that includes online performances byTanya Saxena, Tanveer Alam, Subastian Tan/MDT, Mythili Anoop and Deepali Salil.
